Observation One

Observation #1 Anecdotal Observations (YouTube Videos)

Video #1:
Background/Context: 2 girls playing on floor with wind-up box

Intensive Observation: Older girl is counting on a toy that is colorful and interactive. Younger girl is watching carefully. The younger one then helps to close the toys. Older girl ten stares at younger one, and continues to play with her toy. She then takes her toy and walks away. The younger girl tries to run after her, and the older one runs away again.

Reflection: This behavior seen seems very typical for this age child. The older girl exhibits jealousy when the younger one is playing her toy, so she takes it away. The younger one, likely a sister, wants to follow her around because she is interested in what she is doing, This is very typical.

Video #2:
Background/Context: 2 twin girls dumping/cleaning toys up at home setting, dressed as ballerinas.

Intensive Observation:  1 girl is cleaning up her toys, saying "mine, mine, mine"and the other is holding the basket. She then dumps the toys out, they switch roles and other twin picks up toys saying, "hello, ball" and "hold that". She dumps the toys out again, saying, " hello, chop chop", The same twin picks them back up again and dumps the toys again.

Reflection: This behavior is quite typical for this age children, especially as sisters, to make messes, clean them up and switching roles. They are likely participating in role playing through the act of cleaning and this play encourages good skills later on through childhood and adulthood.

Video #3:
Background/Context: Classroom of full of preschool kids with teacher teaching a lesson in front of room.

Intensive Observation in format provided:

 DISTRACTED:

Child at front is standing.
Camera in back children keep looking at it.
Lying down child in back is kicking, standing and kneeling.

CHILD-CHILD:

Reflection:  Children at this young of an age have trouble focusing, especially on school work/ lectures for an extended period of time. It seems they are unable to pay attention much longer, especially with the distractions present within the classroom.
